If you are using the hosting control panel's File Manager feature to delete some files but it doesn't seem to to do anything, make sure that you do not have your browser set to refuse popup windows. Part of the File Manager's operation will try to open a popup window asking you to confirm the file deletion. If you have popups blocked then that window never gets displayed so you can never get the chance to confirm your deletion. As a result your files never get deleted.
