The hypertext markup language is not a programming language.
HTML editors often produce bulky code that take way too long to download, and are hopeless with search engine placing. These can usually be hand optimized to yield small tight files, that load faster and get better positions in search engines. Before you go off buying expensive books on the subject check some of the millions of HTML tutorials on the web. I can recommend a few. The best is probably the oldest, it's the NCSA HTML primer Now don't rush off without first book marking this site. The most widely used HTML tags are covered on the Introduction to HTML page on this site You could also try looking at the source of interesting pages you see on the web.
