Sri Lanka is one of the most corrupt places in the world. The bribery commision has been crippled by the politicians so that their misdeeds cannot be investigated. But finaly the supreme court has stepped in and decided to take action.

In a landmark case the Supreme Court has reveresed a large Transcation Involving John Keells Holdings , the second largest company in the stock market and the government. The treasury sectratary (PB Jayasundara), one of the most disgusting officials in the country has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 500,000.00

Thus the supreme court has stepped into give two resounding slaps to one of the most powerfull officials in the country and one of the most powerfull corporations as well. John Keells frequently takes out newspaper advertisements about they Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Heck if you can persuade the treasury secratary to give you state land worth billions free of charge, you can afford to spend a few hundred thousand bucks on CSR. The entire board of John Keells should resign. So should PB Jayasundara.

It remains to be seen if the ministers who oversaw the transaction, Karu Jayasuriya and Milinda Moragoda will face any legal action.
