SAARC - the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation is undoubtedly the most ineffective regional organization anywhere in the world. It's entiring it's 23rd year, and has achieved virtually nothing. Heck it doesn't even have a proper website.

Many blame the ineffectiveness of SAARC to the hostility between India and Pakistan. How would they explain the success of the European Union? The EU started off as the European Steel and Coal community, and it's original members were countries that had fought the World War II on opposing sides of the battle fields just 5 years earlier.

The reason that SAARC has been such a lame duck is because it had such imbeciles and Benazir, Chandrika , Gayoom and Premadasa as it's chair person. Mahinda's name can be added to this list soon.

All that SAARC has done is eat up billions of dollars of tax payers money in seven member nations. Well, now it's eight, why on earth Afganistan wanted to be a part of this mess is anybody's guess.
